Hosette
and
in
support
of
Adam
Cain
as
he
recovers

from
his
injuries.

WHEREAS,
Eric
M.
Hosette’s
lifelong
dream
was
to
be
4
a
fire
fighter;
and
5
WHEREAS,
he
realized
that
dream
at
the
age
of
6
eighteen
when
he
served
as
a
volunteer
fire
fighter
7
with
the
Camanche
Fire
Department;
and
8
WHEREAS,
Eric
subsequently
joined
the
Clinton
Fire
9
Department
in
2006,
and
was
promoted
to
Lieutenant
in
10
2017;
and
11
WHEREAS,
Eric
also
joined
the
Charlotte
Fire
12
Department
in
2013
as
a
volunteer
fire
fighter
and
13
was
appointed
Chief
of
the
department
on
January
1,
14
2019;
and
15
WHEREAS,
Eric
served
as
a
Fire
Cause
and
Origin
16
Investigator,
a
Juvenile
Fire
Setter
Program
17
supervisor,
and
on
the
Truck
Committee
for
the
Clinton
18
Fire
Department;
and
19
WHEREAS,
Adam
Cain
joined
the
Goose
Lake
Fire
20
Department
in
2011
as
a
junior
fire
fighter
at
the
age
21
of
sixteen,
became
a
fire
fighter
for
Goose
Lake
in
22
2013,
and
has
been
involved
as
a
fire
fighter
there
23
ever
since;
and
24
WHEREAS,
Adam
has
been
a
fire
fighter
with
the
25
Clinton
Fire
Department
since
2017;
and
26
WHEREAS,
on
January
5,
2019,
Eric
M.
Hosette
made
27
the
ultimate
sacrifice
while
battling
a
fire
in

Clinton
that
resulted
in
an
explosion
that
ended
Eric’s
1
life;
and
2
WHEREAS,
the
explosion
injured
fellow
fire
fighter
3
Adam
Cain,
who
had
been
recovering
at
the
University
of
4
Iowa
Hospitals
and
Clinics,
including
a
two-week
stay
5
in
the
intensive
care
unit,
before
being
discharged
on
6
January
25,
2019;
and
7
WHEREAS,
fire
fighting
is
a
family
profession
8
for
both
Eric
and
Adam;
Eric’s
grandfather,
Richard
9
Grimm,
served
in
the
Charlotte
Fire
Department
for
50
10
years,
including
30
years
as
Chief,
and
Adam’s
father,
11
Kevin
Cain,
is
currently
Chief
of
the
Goose
Lake
Fire
12
Department
and
Adam’s
brother,
Matt
Cain,
is
also
a
13
Clinton
fire
fighter;
NOW
THEREFORE,
14
BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
That
the
Senate
15
expresses
its
gratitude
to
Eric
M.
Hosette
and
Adam
16
Cain,
their
respective
families,
and
the
entire
public
17
safety
community
for
the
bravery
and
courage
they
have
18
shown
and
the
sacrifices
they
have
made
so
that
Iowans
19
may
live
a
safer
and
more
comfortable
life
in
their
20
homes,
businesses,
and
communities;
and
21
BE
IT
FURTHER
RESOLVED,
That
a
copy
of
this
22
Resolution
be
sent
to
each
fire
department
in
which
23
Eric
M.
Hosette
and
Adam
Cain
have
served
and
to
their
24
respective
families.
