S.F. 564 Section 1. IOWA NEWBORN SCREENING PANEL. The congenital and 1 inherited disorders advisory committee Iowa newborn screening 2 panel subcommittee may evaluate and make recommendations, 3 annually, regarding additions to the Iowa newborn screening 4 panel of all core conditions listed on the recommended uniform 5 screening panel recommended by the secretary of the United 6 States department of health and human services advisory 7 committee on heritable disorders in newborns and children as of 8 July 1, 2019. The department of public health shall submit a 9 report of the results of the congenital and inherited disorders 10 advisory committee Iowa newborn screening panel subcommittee’s 11 evaluation to the governor and the general assembly, annually, 12 by January 1. 13 EXPLANATION 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 16 This bill authorizes the congenital and inherited disorders 17 advisory committee Iowa newborn screening panel subcommittee 18 (subcommittee) to evaluate and make recommendations, annually, 19 regarding additions to the Iowa newborn screening panel of all 20 core conditions listed on the recommended uniform screening 21 panel recommended by the secretary of the United States 22 department of health and human services advisory committee on 23 heritable disorders in newborns and children as of July 1, 24 2019.
