S.F. 430 Section 1. SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM 1 (SNAP) —— WORKFARE. The department of human services shall 2 assign an individual who is subject to the work requirements 3 specified in 7 U.S.C. §2015(d)(1), but who is exempt from 4 the work requirements pursuant to 7 U.S.C. §2015(o) and not 5 otherwise participating in an employment and training program 6 established pursuant to 7 U.S.C. §2015(d)(4), to a workfare 7 program established under 7 U.S.C. §2029. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill requires the department of human services to 12 assign an individual who would otherwise be subject to the work 13 requirements under federal law, but who meets the criteria for 14 one of the exemptions under federal law, and is not otherwise 15 participating in an employment and training program established 16 as prescribed in federal law to be assigned to a workfare 17 program. 18 -1- LSB 1963SV (1) 88 pf/rh 1/ 1
