S.F. 241 Section 1. Section 96.11, Code 2019, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 17. Electronic notifications for weekly 3 claims. The department shall provide an individual submitting 4 a claim for benefits with an electronic confirmation that the 5 claim was successfully submitted. The confirmation shall 6 include a confirmation number for the claim and shall be 7 provided for each weekly claim. Such confirmation shall not be 8 considered an acknowledgment that a claim is valid. 9 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to any new claim of 10 unemployment benefits with an effective date on or after July 11 7, 2019. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill requires the department of workforce development 16 to provide an individual submitting a claim for unemployment 17 benefits with an electronic confirmation that the claim was 18 successfully submitted. The confirmation shall include a 19 confirmation number for the claim and shall be provided for 20 each weekly claim.
