S.F. 2099 Section 1. INNOVATIVE CONGREGATE MEAL CONCEPTS —— 1 APPROPRIATION. There is appropriated from the general fund 2 of the state to the department on aging for the fiscal year 3 beginning July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021, the following 4 amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, for the purpose 5 designated: 6 For launching or expansion of innovative concepts in 7 providing congregate meals to older individuals as authorized 8 by the federal Older Americans Act: 9 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 180,000 10 The funds appropriated in this section shall be distributed 11 equally to the six area agencies on aging to launch or expand 12 such innovative concepts as the encore cafe and projects that 13 integrate the provision of a meal with social interaction 14 through chef-led cooking demonstrations, health and wellness 15 presentations, evidence-based health programs, and other social 16 activities in a convenient location. 17 EXPLANATION 18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 19 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 20 This bill provides an appropriation from the general fund 21 of the state to the department on aging for the fiscal year 22 beginning July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021, for launching 23 or expansion of innovative concepts in providing congregate 24 meals to older individuals as authorized by the federal Older 25 Americans Act.
