S.F. 16 Section 1. MEDICAID COVERAGE —— PREGNANT WOMEN LAWFULLY 1 RESIDING IN THE UNITED STATES. Beginning July 1, 2019, 2 coverage shall be provided under the Medicaid program to 3 pregnant women lawfully residing in the United States in 4 accordance with 42 U.S.C. §1396b(v)(4). The department of 5 human services shall submit a Medicaid state plan amendment to 6 the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services of the United 7 States department of health and human services for approval to 8 elect the option to provide such Medicaid coverage. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill requires that coverage under the Medicaid program 13 be provided beginning July 1, 2019, to pregnant women lawfully 14 residing in the United States in accordance with federal law. 15 The bill requires the department of human services to submit a 16 Medicaid state plan amendment to the centers for Medicare and 17 Medicaid services of the United States department of health and 18 human services for approval to elect the option to provide such 19 Medicaid coverage. 20 -1- LSB 1024XS (2) 88 pf/rh 1/ 1
