to
read
as
follows:

17.
“Vulnerable
elder”
means
a
person
sixty
years
of
age
or

older
who
is
unable
to
protect
himself
or
herself
from
elder

abuse
as
a
result
of
age
or
and
a
mental
or
physical
condition.

inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Currently,
under
Code
section
235F.1(17),
“vulnerable
elder”

is
defined
as
a
person
60
years
of
age
or
older
who
is
unable
to

protect
himself
or
herself
from
elder
abuse
either
as
a
result

of
the
person’s
age
or
as
a
result
of
the
person’s
mental
or
12
physical
condition.
This
bill
modifies
this
definition
to
13
provide
that
a
“vulnerable
elder”
is
a
person
60
years
of
age
14
or
older
who
is
unable
to
protect
himself
or
herself
from
15
elder
abuse
as
a
result
of
both
the
person’s
age
and
mental
or
16
physical
condition.
