H.F. _____ Section 1. MEDICATION-ASSISTED TREATMENT —— OPTION FOR NO 1 PRIOR AUTHORIZATION. The department of human services shall 2 adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A to require that under both 3 Medicaid fee-for-service and managed care administration, at 4 least one option for medication-assisted treatment shall be 5 available to Medicaid members without prior authorization. For 6 the purpose of this section, “medication-assisted treatment” 7 means the medically monitored use of certain substance use 8 disorder medications in combination with treatment services. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill requires the department of human services to 13 adopt administrative rules to require that under both Medicaid 14 fee-for-service and managed care administration, at least one 15 option for medication-assisted treatment shall be available 16 to Medicaid members without prior authorization.
