154C.3,
subsection
3,
Code
2019,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

License
renewal
and
continuing
education.
Licenses

shall
be
renewed
biennially,
and
licensees
shall
pay
a
fee
for

renewal
as
determined
by
the
board
and
shall
present
evidence
5
satisfactory
to
the
board
that
the
licensee
has
satisfied

continuing
education
requirements
as
determined
by
the
board.

The
board
shall
not
limit
the
number
of
continuing
education
8
credits
that
may
be
obtained
online
in
satisfying
continuing
9
education
requirements,
provided
that
any
program
providing
10
continuing
education
credits
online
shall
comply
with
standards
11
set
by
the
board.

to

as

activities

fulfill
continuing
education

The
board

therapists
or
mental
health

counselors
in
fulfilling
continuing
education
requirements,

provided
that
any
program
providing
continuing
education

credits
online
shall
comply
with
standards
set
by
the
board.

This
bill
relates
to
continuing
education
requirements
for

licensed
social
workers,
marital
and
family
therapists,
and

mental
health
counselors.
The
bill
prohibits
the
board
of
27
social
work
from
limiting
the
number
of
continuing
education
28
credits
that
social
workers
may
obtain
online
and
the
board
29
of
behavioral
science
from
limiting
the
number
of
continuing
30
education
credits
that
marital
and
family
therapists
and
mental
31
health
counselors
may
obtain
online.
Programs
providing
32
continuing
education
credits
online
must
comply
with
standards
33
set
by
the
appropriate
board.
