MEYER , OLSON , HANUSA , and GERHOLD A Resolution recognizing and congratulating the 1 Grand View University Vikings wrestling team on 2 winning the National Association of Intercollegiate 3 Athletics Wrestling National Championship for the 4 eighth consecutive year. 5 WHEREAS, on March 2, 2019, the Grand View Vikings 6 wrestling team won the National Association of 7 Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Wrestling National 8 Championship for an unprecedented eighth consecutive 9 team title; and 10 WHEREAS, the Grand View Vikings wrestling team 11 is only the second team in all of college wrestling 12 history to win eight consecutive national titles; and 13 WHEREAS, the Grand View Vikings wrestling team 14 finished with a total score of 219 team points, which 15 was 134 points ahead of the team in second place; and 16 WHEREAS, this is the second highest team scoring 17 record, ranking only behind the 2017 Grand View Vikings 18 wrestling team’s performance; and 19 WHEREAS, two Grand View Vikings wrestlers were 20 crowned national champions: John Wenger at 149 pounds 21 (his second title) and Evan Hansen at 197 pounds (his 22 third title); and 23 -1- LSB 2793HH (4) 88 mo/rn 1/ 2

H.R. 21 WHEREAS, all 12 Grand View Vikings wrestlers 1 garnered All-American honors and finished sixth or 2 better on the podium; and 3 WHEREAS, Lawton Benna became only the fourth Grand 4 View Vikings wrestler in its program’s history to 5 become a four-time All-American; and 6 WHEREAS, the Grand View Vikings wrestling team led 7 the NAIA in scholar-athletes for the second year in a 8 row; and 9 WHEREAS, coach Nick Mitchell was named the 2019 NAIA 10 National Coach of the Year, collecting his fifth such 11 honor as the Grand View Vikings wrestling team head 12 coach; NOW THEREFORE, 13 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, 14 That the House of Representatives recognizes and 15 congratulates the Grand View Vikings wrestling team on 16 its outstanding achievements in National Association 17 of Intercollegiate Athletics wrestling by winning the 18 National Championship for the eighth consecutive year; 19 and 20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this 21 Resolution be sent to Grand View Vikings wrestling team 22 head coach Nick Mitchell and Grand View University 23 President Kent Henning. 24 -2- LSB 2793HH (4) 88 mo/rn 2/ 2
