the

and

the
state’s
educational
television
network;
and

WHEREAS,
today
Iowa
Public
Television
is
an
Emmy

award-winning
television
network
serving
2
million
9
viewers
each
month
with
four
unique
programming
10
channels,
a
24
hours,
seven
days
a
week
IPTV
KIDS
11
livestream,
and
36
million
minutes
viewed
on
IPTV’s
12
YouTube
channels
last
year
alone;
and
13
WHEREAS,
Iowa
Public
Television’s
educational
14
services
and
programs
spark
curiosity
and
create
a
15
love
of
learning
and
interest
in
science,
technology,
16
engineering,
arts,
and
math
(STEAM)
fields
in
17
hundreds
of
thousands
of
Iowa
children,
provide
Iowa’s
18
caregivers,
teachers,
and
educators
with
free
resources

and
professional
development,
and
nurture
STEAM
and
20
future-ready
skills
in
our
next
generation;
and

WHEREAS,
Iowa
Public
Television
brings
coverage
of

Iowa’s
talented
students
including
girls’
high
school

athletic
and
dance
championships,
the
All-State
Music

Festival,
the
Terrace
Hill
Piano
Competition,
and
more,

free
to
all
Iowans
and
the
world
via
broadcast
and

livestreams
each
year;
and

WHEREAS,
Iowa
Public
Television’s
Iowa
Press
has
set

and
its
Market
to
Market,
first
broadcast

1975,
is

longest-running
program

its

markets

WHEREAS,
Iowa
Public
Television
is
a
true
public
and

private
partnership
supported
through
state
and
federal

dollars,
grants,
gifts,
underwriting,
and
the
support

of
more
than
60,000
households
through
the
Friends
of

IPTV
Foundation;
and

WHEREAS,
Iowa
Public
Television
remains
a
beacon

of
thought-provoking
media
and
Iowa’s
only
statewide

television
network;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,
That

the

Representatives
commends
and
congratulates

Iowa
Public
Television
on
the
past

years
of
telling

Iowa’s
stories
while
building
and
utilizing
the
latest

technology
to
