H.F. 586 Section 1. Section 627.6, subsection 2, Code 2019, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 2. One shotgun, and either one rifle or one musket long gun 3 and one handgun . 4 EXPLANATION 5 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 6 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 7 This bill amends Code section 627.6 (general exemptions), 8 which lists property that a debtor who is an Iowa resident may 9 hold exempt from execution. 10 The bill changes the exemption regarding firearms from “one 11 shotgun, and either one rifle or one musket” to “one long gun 12 and one handgun”. 13 -1- LSB 1052HH (2) 88 asf/jh 1/ 1
