H.F. 452 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 702.6A Crime of violence. 1 A “crime of violence” means an offense that has as an element 2 of the offense the use, attempted use, or threatened use of 3 physical force or power against the person or property of 4 another. 5 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 702.20B Violence. 6 “Violence” means the intentional use of physical force or 7 power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, 8 or a group or community, which either results in or has a high 9 likelihood of resulting in injury, death, or psychological 10 harm. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill defines the terms “crime of violence” and 15 “violence”. 16 The bill provides that a crime of violence means an offense 17 that has as an element of the offense the use, attempted use, 18 or threatened use of physical force or power against the person 19 or property of another. 20 The bill defines violence as the intentional use of physical 21 force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another 22 person, or a group or community, which either results in 23 or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, or 24 psychological harm. 25 -1- LSB 2501HH (1) 88 as/rh 1/ 1
