H.F. 402 Section 1. Section 298.3, subsection 1, paragraph c, Code 1 2019, is amended to read as follows: 2 c. The purchase, lease, or lease-purchase of equipment or 3 technology , including noninstructional software, equipment, 4 and technology services, exceeding five hundred dollars in 5 value per purchase, lease, or lease-purchase transaction. 6 Each transaction may include multiple equipment , software, or 7 technology units. 8 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to school budget 9 years beginning on or after July 1, 2019. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 Current Code section 298.3 authorizes revenues from the 14 regular and voter-approved physical plant and equipment levies 15 to be used, in part, for the purchase, lease, or lease-purchase 16 of equipment or technology exceeding $500 in value per 17 purchase, lease, or lease-purchase transaction. This bill 18 specifies that such authorization includes noninstructional 19 software, equipment, and technology services, subject to the 20 value per transaction requirement. 21 The bill applies to school budget years beginning on or after 22 July 1, 2019. 23 -1- LSB 2534HH (2) 88 md/jh 1/ 1
