as
follows:

“Vulnerable
elder”
means
a
person
sixty
years
of
age
or

older
who
is
unable
to
protect
himself
or
herself
from
elder

abuse
as
a
result
of
age
or
a
mental
or
physical
condition

or
because
of
a
personal
circumstance
which
results
in
an

increased
risk
of
harm
to
the
person
.

this

does

constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Currently,
under
Code
section
235F.1(17),
“vulnerable
elder”

is
defined
as
a
person
60
years
of
age
or
older
who
is
unable
to

protect
himself
or
herself
from
elder
abuse
either
as
a
result

of
the
person’s
age
or
as
a
result
of
the
person’s
mental
14
or
physical
condition.
This
bill
amends
this
definition
to
15
provide
that
a
“vulnerable
elder”
is
a
person
60
years
of
age
16
or
older
who
is
unable
to
protect
himself
or
herself
from
elder
17
abuse
as
a
result
of
the
person’s
mental
or
physical
condition
18
or
because
of
a
personal
circumstance
which
results
in
an
19
increased
risk
of
harm
to
the
person.
