Section
1.
STUDY
——
STATE
HISTORICAL
SITES.

1.
The
department
of
cultural
affairs,
including
the

historical
division
of
the
department
of
cultural
affairs,

shall
conduct
a
study
regarding
the
identification,
4
establishment,
and
promotion
of
state
historical
sites.

2.
The
study
shall
include
all
of
the
following:
6
a.
A
review
of
current
practices
and
processes
for
7
identifying,
establishing,
and
promoting
state
historical
8
sites.
9
b.
The
establishment
of
metrics
to
measure
the
cultural
10
and
economic
impact
to
the
state
of
existing
state
historical
11
sites.
12
c.
The
establishment
of
metrics
to
measure
the
cultural
13
and
economic
impact
to
the
state
of
proposed
state
historical
14
sites.
15
d.
The
establishment
of
procedures
and
processes
to
16
identify,
establish,
and
promote
new
state
historical
sites
17
with
high
cultural
and
economic
impact
potential.

e.
The
establishment
of
annual
goals
for
increasing
the
19
number
of
state
historical
sites.

The
department
and
the
division
shall
seek
input
from
the
21
Iowa
great
places
board,
local
committees
established
pursuant
22
to
section
303.3E
to
promote
culture,
history,
and
arts
in
23
Iowa,
the
historical
society
board
of
trustees,
and
members
of
24
the
state
historical
society.

4.
The
department
shall
submit
a
report
regarding
the
study,
26
including
findings
and
recommendations,
to
the
general
assembly
27
no
later
than
January
31,
2021.

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
DATE.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
immediate
29
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

directs
the
