H.F. 2457 Section 1. Section 256.11, subsection 5, paragraph j, 1 subparagraph (1), Code 2020, is amended to read as follows: 2 (1) One unit of health education which shall include 3 personal health; food and nutrition; environmental health; 4 safety and survival skills; consumer health; family life; 5 age-appropriate and research-based human growth and 6 development; substance abuse and nonuse; emotional and social 7 health; health resources; bleeding control training; and 8 prevention and control of disease, including age-appropriate 9 and research-based information regarding sexually transmitted 10 diseases, including HPV and the availability of a vaccine to 11 prevent HPV, and acquired immune deficiency syndrome. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill requires that the health education unit a school 16 district or accredited nonpublic school must offer to students 17 at the secondary school level must include bleeding control 18 training. 19 -1- LSB 5900HV (2) 88 kh/jh 1/ 1
