H.F. 2382 Section 1. Section 425.15, Code 2020, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 4A. a. Except as provided in paragraph 3 “b” , the name and address of an individual allowed a credit 4 under this section and maintained by the county recorder, 5 county assessor, city assessor, or other entity is confidential 6 information, unless otherwise ordered by a court or released 7 by the lawful custodian of the records pursuant to state or 8 federal law. 9 b. Upon request, a county recorder, county assessor, city 10 assessor, or other entity may share information as described in 11 paragraph “a” to a county veterans service officer for purposes 12 of providing information on benefits and services available to 13 veterans and their families. 14 Sec. 2. Section 426A.13, Code 2020, is amended by adding the 15 following new subsection: 16 NEW SUBSECTION . 5. a. Except as provided in paragraph 17 “b” , the name and address of an individual allowed a military 18 tax exemption under this section and maintained by the county 19 recorder, county assessor, city assessor, or other entity is 20 confidential information, unless otherwise ordered by a court 21 or released by the lawful custodian of the records pursuant to 22 state or federal law. 23 b. Upon request, a county recorder, county assessor, city 24 assessor, or other entity may share information as described in 25 paragraph “a” to a county veterans service officer for purposes 26 of providing information on benefits and services available to 27 veterans and their families. 28 EXPLANATION 29 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 30 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 31 This bill provides that the name and address of an individual 32 allowed a disabled veteran tax credit or a military property 33 tax exemption and maintained by the county recorder, county 34 assessor, city assessor, or other entity are confidential. 35 -1- LSB 5706HV (2) 88 ec/rn 1/ 2
