483A.24,
subsection
1,
Code
2019,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

1.
Owners
or
tenants
of
land,
and
their
minor
children

who
are
younger
than
the
age
of
twenty-seven
,
may
hunt,
fish
4
or
trap
upon
such
lands
and
may
shoot
by
lawful
means
ground
5
squirrels,
gophers,
or
woodchucks
upon
adjacent
roads
without
6
securing
a
license
so
to
do;
except,
special
licenses
to
hunt
7
deer
and
wild
turkey
shall
be
required
of
owners
and
tenants
8
but
they
shall
not
be
required
to
have
a
special
wild
turkey
9
hunting
license
to
hunt
wild
turkey
on
a
hunting
preserve
10
licensed
under
chapter
484B
.

Sec.
2.
Section
483A.24,
subsection
2,
paragraph
a,
12
subparagraph
(1),
Code
2019,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

(1)
“Family
member”
means
a
resident
of
Iowa
who
is
the
14
spouse
or
child
,
including
an
adult
child
who
is
younger
than
15
the
age
of
twenty-seven,
of
the
owner
or
tenant
and
who
resides
16
with
the
owner
or
tenant.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Under
current
law,
only
a
minor
child
may
hunt
certain
21
animals
without
a
license
on
the
land
owned
or
leased
by
a
22
parent.
This
bill
allows
a
child
who
is
under
the
age
of
27
23
to
hunt
certain
animals
without
a
license
on
land
owned
or
24
leased
by
a
parent.
The
bill
changes
the
definition
of
“family
25
member”
for
purposes
of
free
wild
turkey
and
deer
hunting
26
licenses
issued
to
landowners
and
tenants
to
include
an
adult
27
child
that
is
under
the
age
of
27.
