H.F. 2114 Section 1. NEW SECTION . 8C.8A Applicability to certain 1 political subdivisions. 2 Notwithstanding any provision in this chapter to the 3 contrary, with the exception of section 8C.9, a city or county 4 may, by ordinance, initiative, or referendum, elect to not be 5 governed by the terms of this chapter. Such election shall be 6 effective for a ten-year period. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill relates to the applicability of the Iowa cell 11 siting Act to certain political subdivisions. The bill allows 12 cities and counties, whether by ordinance, initiative, or 13 referendum, to elect to not be governed by the terms of the 14 Iowa cell siting Act.
