NEW SECTION . 483A.6C Catfish taking by bow and 1 arrow —— license. 2 A person may be issued an annual catfish-taking license for 3 a fee of ten dollars that entitles the licensee to take catfish 4 by bow and arrow at times and at places as determined by the 5 commission by rule. A person taking catfish with a license 6 issued under this section who is required to have a fishing 7 license to fish shall also purchase an annual fishing license. 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill creates a special fishing license that allows a 12 person to take a catfish using a bow and arrow. 13 Current law authorizes the natural resource commission to 14 allow designated fish to be taken by bow and arrow. The bill 15 allows a person with a bow and arrow catfish-taking license 16 to use a bow and arrow at times and places determined by the 17 commission by rule. A person taking catfish with a bow and 18 arrow catfish-taking license who is otherwise required to have 19 a fishing license shall purchase an annual fishing license. 20 By operation of law, a person who unlawfully takes a catfish 21 commits a simple misdemeanor subject to a scheduled fine of 22 $25.
