H.F. 2017 Section 1. Section 48A.7A, subsection 1, paragraph b, 1 subparagraph (1), Code 2020, is amended by adding the following 2 new subparagraph division: 3 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH DIVISION . (g) A current resident 4 identification card issued by the Iowa veterans home. 5 Sec. 2. Section 49.78, subsection 2, paragraph a, Code 2020, 6 is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 7 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (6) A current resident identification 8 card issued by the Iowa veterans home. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill allows a current resident identification card 13 issued by the Iowa veterans home to be used as a voter 14 identification card for the purposes of registering to vote on 15 election day, if such card contains the person’s photograph and 16 a valid expiration date, and as proof of identity and residence 17 before casting a ballot. 18 -1- LSB 5217YH (3) 88 ss/jh 1/ 1
