H.F. 2007 Section 1. MEDICAID MANAGED CARE —— SUPPORTS INTENSITY 1 SCALE ASSESSMENT ADMINISTRATION. The department of human 2 services shall contract with an independent third party to 3 administer a conflict-free uniform supports intensity scale 4 assessment for persons with an intellectual disability or 5 developmental disability. The assessment tool shall include 6 an evaluation of the functional skills and abilities of the 7 Medicaid member at the following three levels: without the 8 provision of any supports and services, with the provision 9 of the current level of supports and services, and with the 10 provision of additional supports and services to assist the 11 member in reaching the member’s full potential. The assessment 12 tool shall include a narrative portion to more fully reflect 13 and identify the unique supports and services and concerns of 14 the member as well as the member’s family and caregivers. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill requires the department of human services to 19 contract with an independent third party to administer a 20 conflict-free uniform supports intensity scale assessment 21 for persons with an intellectual disability or developmental 22 disability.
