261.115,
subsections

and
2,
Code
2020,
1
are
amended
to
read
as
follows:

1.
A
health
care
professional
recruitment
program
is
3
established
to
be
administered
by
the
college
student
aid
4
commission
for
students
who
graduate
from
an
academic
program
5
at
Des
Moines
university
——
osteopathic
medical
center
or
briar
6
cliff
university
that
leads
to
licensure
as
a
health
care
7
professional
.
The
program
shall
consist
of
a
loan
repayment
8
program
for
health
care
professionals.
The
commission
shall
9
regularly
adjust
the
service
requirement
under
each
aspect
10
of
the
program
to
provide,
to
the
extent
possible,
an
equal
11
financial
benefit
for
each
period
of
service
required.

A
health
care
professional
shall
be
eligible
for
the
13
loan
repayment
program
if
the
health
care
professional
agrees
14
to
practice
in
an
eligible
rural
community
in
this
state.
Des
15
Moines
university
——
osteopathic
medical
center
and
briar
cliff
16
university
shall
recruit
and
place
health
care
professionals
in
17
rural
communities
which
have
agreed
to
provide
additional
funds
18
for
the
recipient’s
loan
repayment.
The
contract
for
the
loan
19
repayment
shall
stipulate
the
time
period
the
recipient
shall
20
practice
in
an
eligible
rural
community
in
this
state.
In
21
addition,
the
contract
shall
stipulate
that
the
recipient
repay
22
any
funds
paid
on
the
recipient’s
loan
by
the
commission
if
the
23
recipient
fails
to
practice
in
an
eligible
rural
community
in
24
this
state
for
the
required
period
of
time.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
expands
the
health
care
professional
recruitment
29
program
to
include
health
professionals
who
graduate
from

and
are
recruited
by
briar
cliff
university
to
practice
in
31
an
eligible
rural
community
in
this
state
that
matches
state
32
funds
for
educational
loan
repayment
for
the
health
care
33
professional.

Currently,
only
health
care
professionals
who
graduate

bill
adds

care

care
professional”

podiatrist,

physical
therapist.
