H.F. 2001 Section 1. Section 514C.34, subsection 1, Code 2020, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraphs: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . 0a. “Covered person” means the same as 3 defined in section 514J.102. 4 NEW PARAGRAPH . 0c. “Health carrier” means the same as 5 defined in section 514J.102. 6 Sec. 2. Section 514C.34, Code 2020, is amended by adding the 7 following new subsection: 8 NEW SUBSECTION . 3A. A health carrier shall reimburse a 9 health care professional for health care services provided to 10 a covered person by telehealth on the same basis and at the 11 same rate as the health carrier would apply to the same health 12 care services provided to a covered person by the health care 13 professional in person. 14 Sec. 3. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to health care 15 services provided by a health care professional to a covered 16 person by telehealth on or after January 1, 2021. 17 EXPLANATION 18 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 19 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 20 This bill requires a health carrier to reimburse a health 21 care professional for health care services provided to a 22 covered person by telehealth on or after January 1, 2021, on 23 the same basis and at the same rate as the health carrier would 24 apply to the same health care services provided to the covered 25 person by the health care professional in person. 26 -1- LSB 5672YH (3) 88 ko/rn 1/ 1
