H.F. 173 Section 1. Section 514C.4, subsection 2, Code 2019, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 2. a. As used in this section , “minimum mammography 3 examination coverage” means benefits which are better than or 4 equal to the following minimum requirements: 5 a. (1) One baseline mammogram for any woman who is 6 thirty-five through thirty-nine years of age, or more frequent 7 mammograms if recommended by the woman’s physician. 8 b. (2) A mammogram every two years for any woman who is 9 forty through forty-nine years of age, or more frequently if 10 recommended by the woman’s physician. 11 c. (3) A mammogram every year for any woman who is fifty 12 years of age or older, or more frequently if recommended by the 13 woman’s physician. 14 b. For purposes of this section, “minimum mammography 15 examination coverage” shall include coverage of 16 three-dimensional mammography. 17 Sec. 2. APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to third-party 18 payment provider policies or contracts issued for delivery, 19 continued, or renewed in this state on or after January 1, 20 2020. 21 EXPLANATION 22 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 23 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 24 This bill provides that mandated health care coverage 25 benefits for mammography must include coverage of 26 three-dimensional mammography.
