S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 124E.2, subsection 6, Code 2018, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 6. “Medical cannabidiol” means any pharmaceutical 3 grade cannabinoid found in the plant Cannabis sativa L. or 4 Cannabis indica or any other preparation thereof that has a 5 tetrahydrocannabinol level of no more than three percent , 6 unless otherwise provided by the medical cannabidiol board 7 by rule, and that is delivered in a form recommended by the 8 medical cannabidiol board, approved by the board of medicine, 9 and adopted by the department pursuant to rule. 10 Sec. 2. Section 124E.5, subsection 3, paragraph b, Code 11 2018, is amended to read as follows: 12 b. Making recommendations relating to the removal or 13 addition of debilitating medical conditions to Adding 14 debilitating medical conditions to or removing debilitating 15 medical conditions from the list of allowable debilitating 16 medical conditions for which the medical use of cannabidiol 17 under this chapter would be medically beneficial by rule . 18 Sec. 3. Section 124E.5, subsection 4, Code 2018, is amended 19 to read as follows: 20 4. Recommendations made by the medical cannabidiol board 21 pursuant to subsection 3 , paragraphs “b” and paragraph “e” , 22 shall be made to the board of medicine for consideration, and 23 if approved, shall be adopted by the board of medicine by rule. 24 Sec. 4. Section 124E.5, subsection 6, Code 2018, is amended 25 by striking the subsection. 26 EXPLANATION 27 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 28 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 29 This bill grants the medical cannabidiol board authority to 30 alter the definition of medical cannabidiol under the medical 31 cannabidiol Act (Code chapter 124E), to increase the allowable 32 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) level to more than 3 percent.
