WHEREAS,
Senator
Bob
Dvorsky
was
born
in
Burlington,

and
has
resided
in
Coralville
and
served
the
area
most
4
of
his
adult
life;
and
5
WHEREAS,
employment
as
a
job
developer
and
an
6
executive
officer
for
the
6th
Judicial
District
7
Department
of
Correctional
Services
gave
Senator
8
Dvorsky
insight
on
matters
relating
to
public
and
9
private
employment
needs
in
the
state;
and
10
WHEREAS,
Senator
Dvorsky
has
devoted
nearly
40
years
11
of
his
life
to
public
service,
serving
seven
years
on
12
the
Coralville
City
Council
beginning
in
1980;
seven
13
years
in
the
Iowa
House
of
Representatives
beginning
14
in
1987;
and,
beginning
in
1994,
25
years
in
the
Iowa
15
Senate;
and
16
WHEREAS,
never
one
to
waste
a
minute,
Senator
17
Dvorsky
has
served
as
chairperson
for
the
Local
18
Government
and
Communications
and
Information
Policy
19
Committees,
and
chaired
the
Senate
Appropriations
20
Committee
from
2005
through
2016;
served
14
years
on
21
the
Legislative
Council;
served
on
the
Criminal
Justice
22
Information
System
Advisory
Committee,
the
Medical
23
Assistance
Projections
and
Assessment
Council,
the
24
School
Finance
Formula
Review
Committee,
the
Iowa
25
Accountability
and
Transparency
Board,
the
State
26
Government
Efficiency
Review
Committee,
and
the
Sex
27
Offender
Research
Council;
and
served
on
numerous

WHEREAS,
praised
for
his
ability
to
work
across

the
aisle,
Senator
Dvorsky
has
promoted
school
aid

postsecondary

funding;
prioritized

infrastructure
needs
at
the
University
of
Iowa;
worked

to
make
the
Iowa
Communications
Network
operational
6
statewide;
and
supported
efforts
to
improve
conditions
7
for
Iowa’s
workforce;
and

WHEREAS,
Senator
Dvorsky
received
the
Arthur
Neu
9
Award
for
Exceptional
Policy
Development
from
the
10
American
Parole
&
Probation
Association
in
2007;
in
11
2011
he
received
the
Hoover
Uncommon
Public
Service
12
Award
from
the
Herbert
Hoover
Presidential
Library
13
Association;
and
in
2013
he
received
the
Legislative
14
Friend
of
Housing
Award
from
the
Iowa
Finance
15
Authority;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
SENATE,
That
the
Senate
honors
17
and
thanks
Senator
Robert
E.
Dvorsky
for
his
many
years
18
of
service
to
the
state
and
to
his
community
and,
in
19
his
well-earned
retirement,
wishes
him
many
happy,
20
healthy
years
to
come.
