NEW
SECTION

Student
absence
reporting.

1.
For
purposes
of
this
section,
“absence”
means
absence
2
from
school
for
one
full
school
day.

2.
The
department
of
education
shall
establish
a
uniform,
4
electronic
system
for
the
reporting
of
information
relating
to
5
student
absences
by
school
districts
pursuant
to
this
section.

3.
A
school
district
shall
annually
submit
the
following
7
information
relating
to
student
absences
for
the
preceding
8
school
year
using
the
reporting
system
established
pursuant
to
9
this
section:

a.
The
total
number
of
student
absences
in
the
district.
11
b.
The
total
number
of
unexcused
student
absences
in
the
12
district.
13
c.
The
total
number
of
excused
student
absences
in
the
14
district.
15
d.
The
total
number
of
student
absences
in
the
district
due
16
to
extracurricular
activities.
17
e.
The
total
number
of
student
absences
in
the
district
due
18
to
illness.
19
f.
The
total
number
of
students
in
the
district
absent
for
20
five
or
fewer
school
days.
21
g.
The
total
number
of
students
in
the
district
absent
for
22
at
least
six
but
not
more
than
ten
school
days.

h.
The
total
number
of
students
in
the
district
absent
for
24
at
least
eleven
but
not
more
than
eighteen
school
days.

i.
The
total
number
of
students
in
the
district
absent
for
26
more
than
eighteen
school
days.

Such
other
information
as
the
department
may
require
by

submitted

electronic
reporting

shall

personally
identifying
information

bill
requires
the
department
of
education
to
establish

a
uniform,
electronic
system
for
the
reporting
of
information

relating
to
student
absences
by
school
districts.
The
bill

defines
“absence”
as
absence
from
school
for
one
full
school

day.

The
bill
requires
school
districts
to
annually
submit

certain
information
relating
to
student
absences
for
the

preceding
school
year
via
the
electronic
reporting
system.
The

bill
provides
that
information
submitted
via
the
reporting

system

not
