S.F. 37 Section 1. Section 20.10, subsection 2, Code 2017, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . i. Violate section 20.26A. 3 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION . 20.26A Employee organizations —— 4 office space. 5 A public employer shall not provide an employee organization 6 with office space under the control of the public employer 7 at a cost that is less than the market value of a lease for 8 comparable office space. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill prohibits a public employer from providing office 13 space to an employee organization at a rate less than market 14 value. The bill provides that a violation of the prohibition 15 is a prohibited practice under Code chapter 20 and subject 16 to the remedies provided in Code chapter 20 for prohibited 17 practices. 18 -1- LSB 1621XS (1) 87 je/rj 1/ 1
