S.F. 343 Section 1. MEDICAID MANAGED CARE —— TIMELY FILING OF 1 CLAIMS. The department of human services shall adopt rules 2 pursuant to chapter 17A and shall amend Medicaid managed care 3 contracts to require that Medicaid managed care organizations 4 allow Medicaid providers a timely filing period of 365 days 5 from the date of service for submission of claims. The rules 6 and contract amendments shall also provide that a claim may be 7 resubmitted or adjusted if the claim is submitted within 365 8 days from the last date of adjudication. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill directs the department of human services to 13 adopt administrative rules and amend Medicaid managed care 14 contracts to require Medicaid managed care organizations to 15 allow Medicaid providers a timely filing period of 365 days 16 from the date of service for submission of claims.
