Section
1.
Section
232.84,
subsection
2,
Code
2017,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

Within
thirty
fifteen
days
after
the
entry
of
an
order
3
under
this
chapter
transferring
custody
of
a
child
to
an
agency
4
for
placement,
the
agency
shall
exercise
due
diligence
in
5
identifying
and
providing
notice
to
the
child’s
grandparents,
6
aunts,
uncles,
adult
siblings,
parents
of
the
child’s
siblings,
7
and
adult
relatives
suggested
by
the
child’s
parents,
subject
8
to
exceptions
due
to
the
presence
of
family
or
domestic
9
violence.

does

constitute
agreement

the
members

the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
identification
and
notification
of
14
certain
relatives
of
a
child
after
an
order
for
the
removal
of
15
the
child
from
the
custody
of
the
child’s
parent
or
parents
in
16
a
child
in
need
of
assistance
proceeding.
17
Under
current
law,
the
department
of
human
services
(DHS),
18
juvenile
court
services,
or
a
private
agency,
within
30
days
19
of
an
order
for
a
child’s
removal
from
the
custody
of
the
20
child’s
parent
or
parents,
shall
exercise
due
diligence
in
21
identifying
and
providing
notice
to
the
child’s
grandparents,
22
aunts,
uncles,
adult
siblings,
and
adult
relatives
suggested
by
23
the
parents
subject
to
exceptions
due
to
the
presence
of
family
24
or
domestic
violence.
The
bill
amends
the
law
to
provide
that
25
DHS,
juvenile
court
services,
or
a
private
agency
must
identify
26
and
notify
such
a
child’s
relatives
within
15
days
of
the
order
27
for
removal.
