NEW SECTION . 279.70 School district building 1 emergency operations planning. 2 The board of directors of a school district shall conduct 3 emergency operations planning for individual school buildings 4 in the school district in which students are educated no later 5 than June 30, 2019. The planning shall include but not be 6 limited to responses to active shooter scenarios and natural 7 disasters. The board shall consider any recommendations of 8 the department of education relating to emergency operations 9 planning and shall consult with local law enforcement 10 agencies and the local emergency management coordinator in the 11 development of the planning. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill requires the board of directors of a school 16 district to conduct emergency operations planning for 17 individual school buildings in the school district in which 18 students are educated no later than June 30, 2019. The 19 planning shall include but not be limited to responses to 20 active shooter scenarios and natural disasters.
