S.F. 2361 Section 1. Section 262.9, Code 2018, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsections: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 39. Require that undergraduate students 3 enrolled in an institution of higher education governed by the 4 board who will graduate on or after July 1, 2019, complete 5 a one-credit-hour financial literacy course offered by the 6 institution prior to graduation. 7 NEW SUBSECTION . 40. Develop and implement a policy 8 to provide to each undergraduate student enrolled at an 9 institution of higher education governed by the board who 10 has formally declared an intention to pursue a degree from a 11 baccalaureate degree program a report on the employment rate 12 in the student’s field of study one year after graduation, 13 percentage of graduates of the institution who completed the 14 program and entered a postgraduate degree program within one 15 year of graduation, average starting salary, and average 16 student debt upon graduation of graduates of the institution 17 who completed the program. The report shall be provided on an 18 annual basis and shall be based upon the most recent available 19 data. 20 NEW SUBSECTION . 41. By July 1, 2019, develop and implement 21 a policy requiring each institution of higher education under 22 its control to provide students enrolled in baccalaureate 23 degree programs with information necessary to facilitate the 24 ability of such students to complete such programs in three 25 academic years. 26 EXPLANATION 27 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 28 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 29 This bill directs institutions of higher education governed 30 by the state board of regents to require that enrolled 31 students who will graduate on or after July 1, 2019, complete 32 a one-credit-hour financial literacy course offered by the 33 institution prior to graduation. 34 The bill directs regents institutions to develop and 35 -1- LSB 5982SV (2) 87 je/jh 1/ 2
