S.F. 2143 Section 1. SEX OFFENDER —— HOUSING. The department of human 1 services and the department of corrections shall cooperate in 2 the coordination of resolving the lack of sufficient housing 3 for placement of aging sex offenders who qualify for release 4 from the custody of the department of human services or the 5 department of corrections. The cooperation shall lead to the 6 issuance of a request for proposal process that gives due 7 consideration to the solicitation of in-state and out-of-state 8 placement options utilizing existing facilities including 9 vacant facilities. 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill relates to the placement of sex offenders who 14 qualify for release from the custody of the department of human 15 services or the department of corrections. 16 The bill provides that the department of human services 17 and the department of corrections shall cooperate in the 18 coordination of resolving the lack of sufficient housing for 19 aging sex offenders who qualify for release from the custody 20 of the department of human services or the department of 21 corrections.
