S.F. 2120 Section 1. MEDICAID MANAGED CARE —— DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF 1 UNIFORM BILLING AND PRIOR AUTHORIZATION FORMS. The department 2 of human services, in collaboration with the Iowa Medicaid 3 enterprise and the Medicaid managed care organizations under 4 contract with the state, shall develop a uniform billing and 5 prior authorization form to be used by all Medicaid managed 6 care organizations beginning no later than September 1, 2018. 7 The department of human services shall adopt rules pursuant 8 to chapter 17A and shall amend all Medicaid managed care 9 contracts, as necessary, to administer this section. 10 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of immediate 11 importance, takes effect upon enactment. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill requires the department of human services (DHS), 16 in collaboration with the Iowa Medicaid enterprise and the 17 Medicaid managed care organizations under contract with the 18 state, to develop a uniform billing and prior authorization 19 form to be used by all Medicaid managed care organizations 20 beginning no later than September 1, 2018. DHS is required to 21 adopt administrative rules and to amend all Medicaid managed 22 care contracts, as necessary, to administer the provision.
