Section
1.
MEDICAID
MANAGED
CARE
——
DEVELOPMENT
AND
USE
1
OF
UNIFORM
CREDENTIALING
OF
MEDICAID
PROVIDERS.
In
order
to
2
reduce
the
administrative
burden
on
providers
and
increase
3
efficiencies
in
the
Medicaid
program,
the
department
of
human
4
services,
in
collaboration
with
the
Iowa
Medicaid
enterprise
5
and
the
Medicaid
managed
care
organizations
under
contract
with
6
the
state,
shall
develop,
for
implementation
no
later
than
7
October
1,
2018,
uniform
requirements
and
procedures
for
the
8
credentialing
of
Medicaid
providers.
The
department
of
human
9
services
shall
adopt
rules
pursuant
to
chapter
17A
and
shall
10
amend
all
Medicaid
managed
care
contracts
to
administer
this
11
section.

Sec.
2.
EFFECTIVE
DATE.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
immediate
13
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.

EXPLANATION
15
The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
16
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
provides
that
in
order
to
reduce
the
18
administrative
burden
on
providers
and
increase
efficiencies
19
in
the
Medicaid
program,
the
department
of
human
services
20
(DHS),
in
collaboration
with
the
Iowa
Medicaid
enterprise
21
and
the
Medicaid
managed
care
organizations
under
contract
22
with
the
state,
shall
develop,
for
implementation
no
later
23
than
October
1,
2018,
uniform
requirements
and
procedures
for
24
the
credentialing
of
Medicaid
providers.
DHS
is
required
to
25
adopt
administrative
rules
and
amend
all
Medicaid
managed
care
26
contracts
to
administer
the
bill.
The
bill
takes
effect
upon
27
enactment.
