Senate File 2118 - Introduced SENATE FILE 2118 BY COMMITTEE ON NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT (SUCCESSOR TO SF 2001) A BILL FOR An Act relating to youth deer hunting license seasonal use 1 restrictions. 2 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 3 TLSB 5296SV (2) 87 js/rn
S.F. 2118 Section 1. Section 483A.8, subsection 7, Code 2018, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 7. A person who is issued a youth deer hunting license and 3 does not take a deer during the youth deer hunting season may 4 use the deer hunting license and unused tag during any other 5 firearm established deer hunting season that is established by 6 the commission to take a deer of either sex using the method of 7 take authorized by rule for each season being hunted. If the 8 tag is filled during one of the seasons, the license will not 9 be valid in subsequent seasons . 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 Currently, residents of Iowa who are at least 12 but no older 14 than 16 years of age may obtain youth deer hunting licenses and 15 accompanying tags. A youth hunter who fails to take a deer 16 during the youth deer season may use the youth deer license and 17 unused tag during the early or late muzzleloader and one of the 18 two shotgun seasons, but not during any other seasons. 19 This bill removes the seasonal limitations for hunting 20 while using a youth deer license. The bill provides that a 21 youth hunter may use a youth deer license and tag during any 22 established deer hunting season, using the weapon authorized 23 for the season being hunted. 24 -1- LSB 5296SV (2) 87 js/rn 1/ 1
