S.F. 2086 Section 1. Section 724.4B, subsection 2, Code 2018, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . d. A person with a valid nonprofessional 3 permit to carry weapons issued pursuant to this chapter who 4 is not inside a school facility and is on the grounds of a 5 school for the purpose of transporting a student to or from any 6 school. 7 EXPLANATION 8 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 9 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 10 This bill relates to going armed with, carrying, or 11 transporting a firearm when transporting a student to and from 12 school. 13 The bill provides that a person with a valid nonprofessional 14 permit to carry weapons may go armed with, carry, or transport 15 a firearm on school grounds, when not inside a school facility, 16 and transporting a student to or from any school. 17 A person who goes armed with, carries, or transports a 18 firearm on the grounds of a school in violation of Code section 19 724.4B commits a class “D” felony.
