Foster
children
and

A
child
placed
in
foster
care
and
subsequently
adopted
shall

be
enrolled
or
remain
enrolled
in
and
attend
an
accredited

school
in
the
school
district
in
which
the
child
is
living
or

an
accredited
nonpublic
school
if
the
adoptive
parent
receives

financial
assistance
as
provided
in
section
600.17.
Such
a

child
shall
not
be
placed
in
competent
private
instruction
or
8
independent
private
instruction
under
chapter
299A.

attendance
age

foster

adopted

not
eligible
for
placement

competent
private
instruction
or
independent
private

instruction
as
provided
in
section
282.19A.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does

constitute
agreement
with

the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
prohibits
placing
former
foster
children
under

private
instruction
if
the
adoptive
parents
receive
an
adoption
20
subsidy.
21
The
bill
provides
that
a
child
placed
in
foster
care
and
22
subsequently
adopted
is
required
to
be
enrolled
or
remain
23
enrolled
in,
and
attend,
an
accredited
school
in
the
school
24
district
in
which
the
child
is
living
or
an
accredited
25
nonpublic
school
if
the
adoptive
parent
receives
an
adoption
26
subsidy.
The
bill
prohibits
such
a
child
from
receiving
27
either
competent
private
instruction
or
independent
private
28
instruction
as
provided
for
in
Code
chapter
299A.
