Section
461A.48,
Code
2018,
is
amended
to
read
1
as
follows:

461A.48
Camping
areas.
3
1.
No
person
shall
camp
in
any
portion
of
a
state
park
or
4
preserve
except
in
portions
prescribed
or
designated
by
the
5
commission.

2.
The
commission
may
designate
up
to
one
hundred
percent
7
of
the
campsites
in
that
portion
of
a
state
park
or
preserve
8
designated
for
camping
as
reservable
using
a
centralized
9
reservation
system
maintained
or
contracted
for
by
the
10
commission.
For
purposes
of
this
subsection,
“centralized
11
reservation
system”
means
a
system
that
accepts
and
processes
12
reservations
either
online
or
through
a
call
center
for
camping
13
and
rental
facilities
in
state
parks,
preserves,
and
recreation
14
areas.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
17
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

Current
commission
rules
require
the
commission
to
make
19
reservable
on
the
centralized
reservation
system
at
least
50
20
percent
but
no
more
than
75
percent
of
the
total
number
of
21
campsites
in
each
individual
campground.
22
This
bill
will
allow
the
commission
to
make
reservable
up
to
23
100
percent
of
campsites
in
each
individual
campground.
The
24
bill
only
affects
the
commission’s
self-imposed
upper
limit
25
and
does
not
affect
the
remainder
of
the
commission’s
rules
26
covering
the
centralized
reservation
system.
