is
amended
by
adding
1
the
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
21.
Adopt
rules
pursuant
to
chapter
3
17A
requiring
persons
holding
a
license,
certificate,
4
authorization,
or
statement
of
recognition
issued
by
the
5
board
who
provide
a
service
to
students
to
undergo
one
hour
6
of
training
on
suicide
awareness
and
prevention
per
calendar
7
year
as
a
condition
of
renewal
of
the
license,
certificate,
8
authorization,
or
statement
of
recognition.
A
person
may
meet
9
this
requirement
through
independent
self-review
of
training
10
materials
approved
by
the
board.

EXPLANATION

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
13
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
directs
the
board
of
educational
examiners
15
to
adopt
administrative
rules
that
condition
the
renewal
16
of
a
license,
certificate,
authorization,
or
statement
of
17
recognition
issued
by
the
board
upon
the
holder
undergoing
18
one
hour
of
training
on
suicide
awareness
and
prevention
per
19
calendar
year.
The
requirement
applies
to
persons
who
provide
20
services
to
students.
The
bill
permits
a
person
to
meet
21
the
requirement
through
independent
self-review
of
training
22
materials
approved
by
the
board.
