S.F. 168 Section 1. Section 1D.1, Code 2017, is amended to read as 1 follows: 2 1D.1 Standard time and daylight saving time . 3 The standard time in this state is the solar time of the 4 ninetieth meridian of longitude west of Greenwich, England, 5 commonly known as central standard time , except that from 2:00 6 ante meridiem of the first Sunday of April in every year until 7 2:00 ante meridiem of the last Sunday of October in the same 8 year, standard time shall be advanced one hour . The period of 9 time so advanced shall be known as “daylight saving time” . 10 Sec. 2. Section 714G.1, subsection 6, Code 2017, is amended 11 to read as follows: 12 6. “Normal business hours” means Sunday through Saturday, 13 between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m., central standard 14 time or central daylight saving time . 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill establishes central standard time as standard time 19 in this state throughout the year. 20 -1- LSB 1902SS (1) 87 ec/sc 1/ 1
