House Resolution 7 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 7 BY MILLER A Resolution requesting the legislative council to 1 establish an interim committee to study the creation 2 of a facility to care for geriatric persons who are 3 registered on the sex offender registry or who are 4 sexually aggressive. 5 WHEREAS, no geriatric facilities exist in Iowa to 6 house persons on the sex offender registry or persons 7 who are sexually aggressive; and 8 WHEREAS, the lack of such a facility places other 9 geriatric patients, residents, and tenants at risk for 10 being sexually abused; and 11 WHEREAS, creation of a housing facility would better 12 protect geriatric patients, residents, and tenants from 13 sexual abuse by sex offenders or sexually aggressive 14 persons; NOW THEREFORE, 15 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 16 the House of Representatives requests the legislative 17 council to establish an interim study committee, 18 composed of members of the senate and the house of 19 representatives, to commence meeting during the 2017 20 interim as soon as practicable. The purpose of the 21 interim study committee is to study the creation 22 of a new facility or expanding a current facility 23 to care for geriatric persons who are registered 24 on the sex offender registry or who are sexually 25 aggressive; related workforce recruitment, training, 26 and compensation issues; requirements that such a 27 facility or facilities must meet in order to qualify 28 -1- LSB 1784YH (1) 87 hb/rj 1/ 2
