recognizing
Iowa’s
commitment
to
affirming

Iowa’s
rural
heritage
and
fair
agricultural
trade,
2
fair
and
nonpartisan
redistricting,
and
retirement
3
security
for
public
employees.

WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
recognizes
5
the
leadership
role
Iowa
has
played
in
agricultural
6
production,
fair
redistricting
practices,
and
7
commitment
to
retirement
security
for
public
8
servants;
and
9
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
recognizes
10
Iowa’s
rural
heritage
and
the
honest
work
ethic
of
11
its
rural
residents,
and
declares
its
commitment
to
12
preserving
Iowa’s
rural
way
of
life,
while
expanding
13
opportunities
and
economic
growth
for
communities,
14
residents,
small
businesses,
and
family
farms
located
15
in
rural
Iowa;
and
16
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
finds
and
17
declares
that
the
implementation
of
tariffs
designed

address
certain
foreign
trade
practices,
including
1
steel
and
aluminum
imports,
is
counterproductive
2
and
will
cause
substantial
and
immediate
negative
3
consequences
to
the
economies
of
this
state,
other
farm
4
states,
and
this
nation,
which
depend
upon
the
export
5
of
agricultural
commodities
including
soybeans
to
world
6
markets;
and
7
WHEREAS,
Iowa’s
process
of
fair
and
nonpartisan
8
redistricting
has
long
been
a
model
for
the
nation
in
9
providing
competitive
districts
that
are
not
drawn
for
10
purely
partisan
advantage;
and
11
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
expresses
12
its
strong
support
for
maintaining
Iowa’s
continuing
13
commitment
to
fair
and
nonpartisan
redistricting;
and
14
WHEREAS,
Iowa
has
long
recognized
the
importance
of
15
those
Iowans
who
serve
the
public
by
providing
that
16
those
Iowans
may
retire
with
dignity;
and
17
WHEREAS,
the
House
of
Representatives
expresses
its
18
support
in
maintaining
strong,
stable,
and
well-funded
19
public
retirement
systems
that
ensure
that
promised
20
retirement
benefits
for
public
employees
will
be
21
available
upon
their
retirement;
NOW
THEREFORE,

BE
IT
RESOLVED
BY
THE
HOUSE
OF
REPRESENTATIVES,

That
the
House
of
Representatives
strongly
affirms
24
its
support
for
Iowa’s
rural
heritage
and
commitment
25
to
fair
agricultural
trade,
fair
and
nonpartisan
26
redistricting,
and
retirement
security
for
public
27
employees.
