on
March
17,
2018,
University
of
Iowa

wrestler
Spencer
Lee
won
the
2018
National
Collegiate

Athletic
Association
(NCAA)
wrestling
championship

title
at
125
pounds,
defeating
his
opponent
5-1;
and
8
WHEREAS,
Lee
scored
a
total
of
27
team
points
9
for
Iowa
at
the
2018
NCAA
wrestling
championships,
10
including
seven
from
bonus
results,
and
was
one
of
five
11
Hawkeye
wrestlers
to
earn
All-American
status;
and
12
WHEREAS,
Lee,
a
freshman
at
the
University
of
Iowa,
13
became
Iowa’s
first
true
freshman
national
champion
14
since
1993;
and
15
WHEREAS,
Lee’s
championship
title
win
was
the
16
culmination
of
an
incredible
comeback
season
at
Iowa

with
a
22-2
overall
record,
having
started
the
season

recovering
from
knee
surgery
and
competing
for
the

first
time
in
December;
and

WHEREAS,
Lee
was
named
the
2018
Big
Ten
Freshman
of

the
Year,
the
winner
of
the
Iowa
wrestling
program’s

2018
Mike
Howard
Most
Valuable
Wrestler
Award,
and

the
winner
of
Amateur
Wrestling
News’
2018
Hammer

Award;
and

WHEREAS,
among
his
many
athletic
achievements
prior
