TAYLOR , KRESSIG , HEATON , BRECKENRIDGE , KACENA , OLSON , and KAUFMANN A Resolution congratulating University of Iowa wrestler 1 Spencer Lee on winning his first National Collegiate 2 Athletic Association wrestling championship title 3 at 125 pounds. 4 WHEREAS, on March 17, 2018, University of Iowa 5 wrestler Spencer Lee won the 2018 National Collegiate 6 Athletic Association (NCAA) wrestling championship 7 title at 125 pounds, defeating his opponent 5-1; and 8 WHEREAS, Lee scored a total of 27 team points 9 for Iowa at the 2018 NCAA wrestling championships, 10 including seven from bonus results, and was one of five 11 Hawkeye wrestlers to earn All-American status; and 12 WHEREAS, Lee, a freshman at the University of Iowa, 13 became Iowa’s first true freshman national champion 14 since 1993; and 15 WHEREAS, Lee’s championship title win was the 16 culmination of an incredible comeback season at Iowa 17 with a 22-2 overall record, having started the season 18 recovering from knee surgery and competing for the 19 first time in December; and 20 WHEREAS, Lee was named the 2018 Big Ten Freshman of 21 the Year, the winner of the Iowa wrestling program’s 22 2018 Mike Howard Most Valuable Wrestler Award, and 23 the winner of Amateur Wrestling News’ 2018 Hammer 24 Award; and 25 WHEREAS, among his many athletic achievements prior 26 -1- LSB 6241HH (3) 87 gh/rn 1/ 2
