House Resolution 110 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 110 BY GAINES and OLSON A Resolution congratulating the Grand View University 1 Vikings wrestling team on winning the National 2 Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Wrestling 3 National Championship for the seventh consecutive 4 year. 5 WHEREAS, on March 3, 2018, the Grand View Vikings 6 wrestling team won the National Association of 7 Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Wrestling National 8 Championship for the seventh consecutive year, becoming 9 the first team in NAIA wrestling history to win seven 10 consecutive national titles; and 11 WHEREAS, the Vikings are only the fourth program in 12 collegiate wrestling history to win seven consecutive 13 national titles; and 14 WHEREAS, the Vikings finished with a total score 15 of 171.5 team points, a full 64.5 points ahead of the 16 second place team; and 17 WHEREAS, three Viking wrestlers were crowned 18 national champions in 10 possible weight classes, 19 including Grant Henderson at 165 pounds, Evan Hansen at 20 197 pounds, and Dean Broghammer at 285 pounds; and 21 WHEREAS, 10 of the Vikings’ qualifiers earned 22 All-American status and finished in seventh place or 23 better on the podium; and 24 WHEREAS, Coach Nick Mitchell was named NAIA National 25 Coach of the Year in 2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016, in 26 addition to being named Regional Coach of the Year 27 seven times; NOW THEREFORE, 28 -1- LSB 6233HH (2) 87 gh/rn 1/ 2
