H.F. 7 Section 1. Section 139A.8, subsection 4, paragraph a, 1 unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 2017, is amended to read as 2 follows: 3 Immunization is not required for a person’s enrollment 4 in any elementary or secondary school or licensed child care 5 center if either any of the following applies: 6 Sec. 2. Section 139A.8, subsection 4, paragraph a, Code 7 2017, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 8 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (3) The applicant, or if the applicant 9 is a minor, the applicant’s parent or legal guardian, submits 10 an affidavit signed by the applicant, or if the applicant is 11 a minor, the applicant’s parent or legal guardian, stating 12 that the applicant opposes the immunizations on the basis of 13 personal conviction. 14 EXPLANATION 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 16 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 17 This bill provides that, in addition to other bases for 18 exemption from required immunizations for a person’s enrollment 19 in any elementary or secondary school or licensed child care 20 center, the applicant is also exempt if the applicant, or if 21 the applicant is a minor, the applicant’s parent or legal 22 guardian, submits an affidavit signed by the applicant, or 23 if the applicant is a minor, the applicant’s parent or legal 24 guardian, stating that the applicant opposes the immunization 25 on the basis of personal conviction. 26 -1- LSB 1423YH (3) 87 pf/nh 1/ 1
