H.F. 66 Section 1. Section 285.1, subsection 1, Code 2017, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . d. For purposes of this section, if a court 3 awards the parents of a pupil joint custody or joint physical 4 care of the pupil, each parent’s home within the school 5 district shall be considered the pupil’s residence. 6 EXPLANATION 7 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 8 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 9 This bill establishes that if a court awards the parents of 10 a pupil joint custody or joint physical care of the pupil, each 11 parent’s home within the school district shall be considered 12 the pupil’s residence for purposes of Code section 285.1, 13 which determines when a pupil is eligible for state aid for 14 transportation to and from school. 15 -1- LSB 1846YH (3) 87 kh/jh/rj 1/ 1
