1.
The
department
and
the
university
of
Iowa
college
of

public
health,
department
of
epidemiology,
shall
coordinate
4
efforts
to
achieve
continuous
quality
improvement
in
the
care
5
provided
for
persons
with
stroke
as
follows:
6
a.
Maintain
a
statewide
stroke
database
that
compiles
7
information
and
statistics
on
stroke
care
which
align
with
8
nationally
recognized
stroke
consensus
metrics.
9
b.
Utilize
a
nationally
recognized
data
set
platform
with
10
confidentiality
standards
consistent
with
federal
and
state
law
11
and
other
health
information
and
data
collection,
storage,
and
12
sharing
requirements
of
the
department.

c.
Coordinate
with
national
voluntary
health
organizations
14
involved
in
stroke
care
quality
improvement
to
avoid
15
duplication
and
redundancy.

d.
Require
nationally
certified
comprehensive
stroke
17
centers
and
nationally
certified
primary
stroke
centers,
and
18
encourage
nationally
certified
acute
stroke-ready
hospitals
and
19
emergency
medical
services
agencies,
to
report
data
consistent
20
with
nationally
recognized
guidelines
on
the
treatment
of
21
individuals
with
confirmed
cases
of
stroke
within
the
state.

2.
All
data
and
information
collected
under
this
section
23
shall
be
made
available
to
the
Iowa
stroke
task
force
to
24
facilitate
a
collaborative,
inclusive
statewide
stroke
care
25
system
and
to
identify
evidence-based
practices
to
guide
26
prevention,
acute
care,
recovery,
and
rehabilitation
efforts
27
in
order
to
produce
measurable
improvements
in
outcomes
for
28
persons
with
stroke.

this

does

constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
requires
the
department
of
public
health
(DPH)
and

the
university
of
Iowa
college
of
public
health,
department

of
epidemiology,
to
coordinate
efforts
to
achieve
continuous

bill

directs
that
all
data
and
information

collected
under
the
bill
be

available
to
the
Iowa

force
to

with
stroke.
